Basic Search Engine Optimization in Article Writing

By: Sumanta Mandal

The only difference that I saw as an article writer was that in Internet writing, the article is published online while the normal ones are published in hard copy. I was partly right.

I was right when I said that the difference between the two was on the medium that the articles are to be published. However, I was wrong to say that there are same styles.

When it comes to ordinary writing that is intended to be published in newspapers and magazines, the writing styles are more on the mainstream approach. It must have the complete details and must be directed toward the target readers.

At one sitting, the article writer must provide what the reader is looking for: no more, no less. In web writing, there must be something left for the readers to find out.

This is where keywords come in. In conventional writing, no keywords are used. Keywords have a two-fold function. For the readers, keywords make it easier to find.

Just type in the keywords in the search engines and in a matter of seconds, the articles containing the keyword will appear on the search results page.

On the other hand, the keywords are also for the convenience of the article writer and internet marketers. Keywords make their services and items visible when searched.

The keywords are used at specific densities. The number of appearances of these keywords is dependent on the sites where it will be published. Certain sites reject article writing when it goes beyond their required number of keywords.

There are also times where the keywords are used to direct the readers into another site. This is usually the site being advertised. This is known as back links.

Also, the articles for the web are published not only on a website. They can also submit to article directories in order to generate more traffic. This is not possible in conventional writing as such articles are only for the readers who have access in printed media.

The trick with these keywords is that the ones to be included in your article writing must be those that are frequently used by the readers. Otherwise, the ability of the article to be searched is lessened.
